WEDDING ONE

On June 6th, 2020, I was able to assist a videographer for a summer wedding. I very much enjoyed it and learned a ton. I wanted to start a series where I will make a blog post for each wedding and talk about the things I learned that day.

One of my takeaways from the wedding was getting to see how much goes into it. I got to see both parties getting prepared for the day, as well as first looks for the father, bridesmaids, bride and groom.

EXPERIENCE: The most unique experience of the weekend was seeing how the photographer and videographer work together. I saw how to set up the bride/groom’s shoes, jewelry, accessories, and rings to get a beautiful photo and great clips for the recap video. Some things look better for photos such as people standing and smiling, while others like people walking into the reception look best in a video. It was very interesting to see the difference between the videographer’s style and the photographer’s style.

CHANGED: One thing I wished that I would have done differently, would not be scared to get the good shots/ footage. I started to get nervous to walk around at the reception and get videos of the people eating at their tables, dancing, or talking. It is so important not to be scared to go where it might be a little awkward because you want to get the best videos that you can! I learned from this and hope to be less scared next time.

LEARNED: One thing I learned was about using different lenses to fit what you are recording. By adjusting the shutter speed to take more pictures at a time, you can then slow it down when editing the final video for a slow-mo effect. If you want a smoother video for the final product, using the extended camera strap can build resistance for a better, more stable film.

STYLE: The Jarman wedding was very cute and rustic! They focused on the outdoors vibes, with cornhole and smores! The venue was at Hickory Hills Barn in Cleveland, TN. They had the cutest red and navy compliments for their bridesmaids/groomsmen. They had a fun, yellow photo bus that came and a polaroid album for their guests. ~I absolutely loved going to this wedding and learning so so much. I hope to learn even more at the next weddings~

Colossians 3:14: “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
